Canoe Museum and Lift Lock

Posted by veggiefrog on Nov 19, 2008 in Outdoors, Travels

Yesterday I had to travel to Peterborough, Ontario for a meeting and decided to visit a couple of the local sites. The Peterborough Canoe Museum was my first stop. To be able to get up close and see canoes made from birch bark that have lasted from the 1800′s was incredible. Unfortunately the pictures did not turn out the greatest as the lighting was difficult and no flash photography was allowed. You can view all the photos on my flickr stream. Below is one of the best photos from the day.

After my meeting I found my way to the lift lock, which is part of the Trent Severn waterway. The Lock 21 is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world.

The joys of skiing

Posted by veggiefrog on Jan 29, 2007 in Outdoors

It may have been a cold day out today, but it was great to hit the slopes of Glen Eden for a few turns. The sun made an appearance a couple of times, but the wind was bitter blowing across the slopes. Unfortunately my knee started to get sore sitting on the chair lifts so I headed out after a couple of hours. Overall it was fun and hopefully I’ll make it out again this year!
